UK Gets Lottery Alert To Help Prevent Stolen Tickets

Following the successful prosecution of a UK shopkeeper who attempted to steal a ticket worth £1 Million, Camelot has now announced that UK lottery terminals will be upgraded with audible win alert.

The upgrade, which should start within the next couple of months, will mean lottery terminals will play a short ‘Ta-daa’ type sound whenever a winning ticket is scanned. This will help to prevent any temptation on shop staff when faced with a winning ticket, as the ticket owner will also be aware of the win.

Similar audible alerts have existed for lottery terminals in other countries, and have proved successful in reducing fraud.
