Bob and Madeleine Birrell, a retired couple who settled in Lake Erie six years ago, have won a $3.4 million jackpot playing lotto 6/49.  Robert, who used to play using numbers that correspond to significant dates, used the quick pick option to record the win.

Gloria C. Mackenzie, 84, has just come forward to with the winning ticket for the May 18 Powerball drawing, which won for her a whopping $590 million.
