Normally damaged lottery tickets are deemed void, so a man who sued to claim  a 100,000 euros ($130,590) prize using a ticket torn in half would be expected to lose.

Newspapers were abuzz about the size of a Powerball jackpot that eventually reached $590.5 million before lottery officials announced that the single winning ticket had been sold in Florida.
